I dragged my heals for years before buying a Mac!
I dragged my heals for years before forking over over $2,000 for a laptop. Now I get why those Apple people are so loyal.
On January 17th it will be one year since I purchased a MacBook Pro. I know this because that’s when my warranty expires. When I did decide to take the leap I hesitated even more at the cash register. I ended up purchasing a refurbished Mac from Apple on line. Refurbished only saved me $300 but every cent counted.. They’re so expensive!
Over the past year I have only had one little problem which didn’t affect me much. I had two apps that wouldn’t update and showed an error message when I tried.
In my mind whoever owned this laptop before me was still registered to this software. I assumed that Apple had missed it when they cleaned off the computer.
I’ve hesitated to contact support because – you know – who wants to go through that? Can you imagine setting out to contact Microsoft?
With the deadline looming I figured I had better get on this so I sat down to contact support this evening.
First off… the wait time – two minutes. What? two minutes… no way! Yeah right!
Sure enough within two minutes I’m chatting with Erica from Apple tech support. The error was a silly problem and not Apple’s fault. It was fixed in 11 minutes and 28 seconds. Now I’m thinking of spending the $379 it takes for another two years of that kind of service. I’m a believer! Think they would have my back if I had a business stopping computer problem.
As a business owner I know that its important to have great customer service. The problem, if you’ve ever owned you own business, is good customer service is very expensive. Even though you need it to stay in business it’s a real cost and most customers aren’t willing to pay extra for it. They don’t realize the value. In my case they think a Headshot is a Headshot.
I admire any business who can say we are going to offer great customer service but you’ll have to pay for it in our price. It’s a gutsy move and unsettling when sales slow. BUT that and scarcity is what creates a loyal following. If you’re a premium product you have to offer fantastic customer service.
I shoot business portraits and headshots in Ottawa. I charge a little more. But they aren’t mug-shots. I take the extra time to get a great headshot that shows your confidence and approachabiity. It will present you in the way you want your customers to see you and it will be beautiful. Who knows how much more money your business will make with a great Headshot.
It’s the old saying you get what you pay for. That’s why an Apple costs more than a Windows product and some people don’t get it. I get it now!
