John Rowlands Iconic Rock and Roll Photographer

John, if you don’t know, is most well known for his images of David Bowie, The Beetles, Elvis Presley and just about anyone else you wish you could have a beer with. In fact I am not going to re-write about his life story. You can read it here. John has been interviewed on television, websites and in books many times.  He’s also written a few himself books.

Here is one of John’s most famous photographs which needs no introduction at all. I hope you don’t mind John!

 

 

John and I had lunch before heading to my studio for the afternoon.  He was so accommodating allowing me to photograph him.

John is not only an interesting person he is also one of the nicest and most sincere despite his fame.

There are so many personal stories of famous people. He speaks of some of the great people he has photographed.

Gordon Lightfoot, Brenda Lee, David Bowie, Elvis.  He spoke about them like he had a conversation with them just yesterday. All this never with any sign of his own stardom.

John, thank you for allowing me to hear your stories.  To learn what I did about your life as a legendary rock and roll photographer and to dream a little. I also thank you for your gift of an original photograph of John Fogerty signed with the ‘fluke’ and all.  Like you said – let’s keep in touch.
